Find the Action at Flora-Bama This Month

Gulf Shores & Orange Beach is full of athletic competition this month, and the Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar, a Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission Sponsor, is the place to be for much of the action.

Feel like challenging yourself in a Gulf Coast triathlon? This Saturday, April 21st, beginning at 7:30 a.m. is the 16th Annual Mullet Man Triathlon. Swim ¼ mile in the Gulf of Mexico, bike 17 miles, and run 4 miles—all beginning at the Flora-Bama Lounge. Then when the action is all over, the fun begins: awards, a post-race party, and of course delicious Flora-Bama food will follow the triathlon.

Then the following weekend the fun returns to the Flora-Bama in the form of fish-tossing. The 27th Annual Interstate Mullet Toss & Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach party begins Friday, April 27th and goes until Sunday, April 29th. The competitions take a different turn during Mullet Toss weekend—tug of war, a bikini contest, a keg toss, and, of course, a mullet toss. Not only can participants say they tossed a fish from Alabama into Florida, they’ll also be contributing to local charities. (And they might win prizes if they’re good at tossing fish!)
