It’s Hot Out There—Stay Cool on the Gulf This Summer

There is no question that summer has officially arrived—it’s hot. If you’re traveling to the Gulf to watch (or even participate in) a little sports action, you certainly will not miss out on the heat. Fortunately, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach is the place to be in the summer, for several reasons.

First, there’s that Gulf breeze—it can make even the hottest of days bearable as you relax on the white-sand beaches, ride a bike along one of the area’s many nature trails, watch one of the upcoming baseball or football tournaments, or participate in the Blue Marlin Grand Championship (scheduled for July 10th to 15th).

Then of course there’s the Gulf itself, as well as the pools and lazy rivers offered by many of the area’s condominiums and hotels. Book a beach-side condo and you’ll have both options—swimming and the Gulf. What better way is there to cool off during a beach vacation?

And if you simply feel like staying indoors, you can thank Baldwin EMC, who is likely keeping you cool by powering the building’s air conditioning. You can also thank the company for being a sponsor of the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission and helping to make possible the variety of sports events that take place. Be sure to check out these upcoming events at the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission website!

Get the Kids Ready for the Coast360 Beach Games in Gulf Shores!

Summer is a perfect time for many things in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, and sports are no exception. The sporting events are continuous throughout the next couple of months, with sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, and even some football rounding out the event lineup.

Summer is also an ideal time for family vacations, and sports-minded families with young children have an extra incentive for a Gulf getaway this year: the 1st Annual Coast360 Beach Games, sponsored by Coast360, a Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission sponsor.

The games are a chance for children ages 7 to 11 to engage in some fun, friendly competition by participating in games like Hula Hoopla, Bucket Ruckus, Low Tide Slide, Seafood Scramble, and Fish in a Barrel. Participants can compete for prizes including beach balls, medals, and coupons to local businesses, and will appear on Coast360 TV, which will air the games each week.

The Beach Games officially began Thursday, June 14th and will take place every Thursday at 11 a.m. through July 26th at Gulf Shores Public Beach. Only the first 10 registrants will be allowed to participate, so those interested should arrive before 10:45 a.m.
